About (Biography)
Lisa Shapter grew up in various parts of the country but has spent the majority of her time in New England. She graduated from the same school as Sarah Orne Jewett (founded the year Mozart died), went to college in the midwest, and to graduate school on the Pacific coast. She has a Ph.D. in a subject unrelated to her fiction.
Lisa is a member of Codex Writers, the National Writers' Union, the New England Science Fiction Association, the New Hampshire Writers' Project, and the Seacoast Writers Association. She is also an alumna of the Breadloaf Young Writers Conference.
She has worked for a major publishing house and in an assortment of bookstores and libraries and is well aware that she would do far better writing thrillers or cozy mysteries featuring fluffy animals. Since neither of those happen when she sits down in front of a blank page, she has stayed with her favorite genre, SF/F.
Lisa also knits, spins, tries to read through her ever-expanding to read shelf (bookcase, room, house), and lives in Kittery Point, Maine with an elderly Remington Deluxe typewriter named Olga.
