Research Needs:
I need readers to check book-length manuscripts for cultural and professional accuracy. Must be a science fiction fan and comfortable with same-sex themes. No compensation except for a warm smile, a firm handshake, and the glad satisfaction of saving an author from answering the same emails about the same mistakes for the rest of her career.
Needs:
- Someone who grew up in Alsace at the turn of the last century (or who can be a reliable informant for the time period.) Knowledge of Alsatian a plus.
- A native speaker of Tagalog.
- A native speaker of Swedish.
- A speaker of Umatilla.
- A speaker of Tutelo.
- A Monacan.
- A Canadian (anglo).
- An Australian (anglo).
- A Botanist.
- An Atmospheric Scientist.
- A Geologist.
- An Entomologist.
- A large animal vet.
- An obstetrician trained early in the 20th century.
- A soprano who has sung Orfeo ed Euridice.
- An Airman who is at least a 2nd Lieutenant (U.S.)

First Entry
All authors wait in hope that their next project will be well received by their agent, publisher, audio book producer, screenwriters -- and readers. Writing, like music or acting, is a vocation where any next project can bomb through artistic mis-guesses, mislaid promotion, audience disinterest, or a hundred other factors in and out of the writer's hands.
This is not a blog about the writing business, there are plenty of those. This is a blog about what I do while waiting for that next envelope or email.
This first entry was supposed to be about a long, lovely summer vacation I took in the mountains, but I cut a finger badly and that aggevts my typngh. I could write instead about my evening in the ER (where everyone was very lovely as I went through the process of getting stitches), but that's not an appealing way to start off a blog.
More later when I'm not reviving my hunt-and-peck skills.
